Tarte Tarteist Pro To Go Amazonian Clay Palette Review

IMG_7370

My first venture into something that isn’t AB is from popular American brand, Tarte! At first, I wasn’t planning on getting this at all because the palette alone retailed at RM95(Sephora MY)/USD23(on Tarte US)… and it was freaking travel size. But I realized after being a Sephora white card member for like 2 years… I never bought anything else after my first in-store purchase (it was the Nyx color correcting palette). Coincidentally, I had a RM30 discount for my birthday month from Sephora at the time so I decided to just get this palette since it seemed pretty worth it as a set. As a set, it retails for RM112(Just a RM17 difference)/USD25(Just a $2 difference). I thought that I might as well pay a little extra to get a mini mascara and lip paint since I’ve never tried them.

The Tarteist Treats Eye & Lip Set consists of:

Capture
Glossy lip paint is in WCW

As I don’t really fancy vampy dark lipsticks and well I didn’t want to open a new mascara just yet so I’ll only be reviewing the Tarte Tarteist Pro to Go palette as a standalone.

PACKAGING

The palette itself is about standard travel size, great for personal and daily use! It is smaller than the heart of my palm (i have big hands so). The case itself is matte black and has a magnetic lid. It also has a small mirror in place.

From the top left, horizontally:

drive(nude-matte), stylin(brown-matte), boss(bronze-shimmer), hype(gold-shimmer), crisp(chestnut-matte), dominate(shimmering raspeberry-shimmer)

ok silly me mixed up the names for Drive and stylin for the below swatches lol

I was surprised they were all very buttery and creamy. All shades applied quite smoothly and were very pigmented. Other than Drive being a little less obvious in terms of pigmentation, all the other shades performed exceptionally well! I especially loved Hype and Boss as they are such pretty shimmers!!

Check out how i used this palette for my look on my mini tutorial on Instagram !

Shades in order, drive, stylin, hype. Also used Kiss me Heroine Make liquid eyeliner in Brown (which review can be found here).

Pros

  • Very pigmented
  • Buttery, glides on easily without effort
  • Not much fallout
  • Mostly warmed toned shades that have a fall vibe
  • Mostly suitable for everyone (even if warm, neutral or cold) as the colors are very wearable for daily use shades
  • Travel compact sized, convenient
  • Comes with a mirror perfect for on the go touch-ups

Cons

  • Only 6×0.85g of product… which is 5.1g worth of product…and you paid like $23
  • Kind of expensive for such a small palette
  • Limited, average shades – nothing unique or eye-catching for a palette
  • Possibility that cold toned people may not like the colors

In a nutshell,

I think the Tarte Tarteist pro to go palette performed above expectations even though it was a little expensive in my opinion. I like how shimmery and pigmented the colors are which really makes my eyes pop in general. I also like how i can mix and match the colors according to my mood – like the video tutorial above would be like a daily look, while I could have used the other three shades for a more bold, fall look. In my opinion, if you’re looking for a compact sized, pigmented, and wearable shade of eyeshadows – then you would definitely love this! However, if you’re a professional makeup artist and love to experiment, this may not be for you as the small 5g of product and six shades may not be enough for you bold, exploring heart.
